Technical Information
The SIMATIC Remote Services are based on the Siemens Remote Service Platform (SRS). This provides plant operators with a reliable, high-performance and highly available platform for remote access.

The SIMATIC Remote Services are made up of various packages that can be customized to customer requirements.

Connectivity packages are available that create a communication between the customer system and the SIEMENS infrastructure (cRSP = common Remote Service Platform). These packages are required once per installation. And in addition the support & usage fee which covers all operative costs such as operating and maintenance costs, generated data traffic, user management but also support for the infrastructure. This package is provided on the basis of an annual provision and standby lump sum.

On the basis of this infrastructure different service modules are available:

The reactive module offers a cost-effective introduction to modern and efficient support service. The service on the basis of the SRS platform and different remote access tools form the foundation for fast troubleshooting or also for a comprehensive consultation regarding your machine or plant.

Inspection services (according to DIN 31051) "remote" are provided via the preventive module. These encompass preventive inspections of the system status to transparently show the equipment conditions and recommendations for preventive measures. For this purpose, diagnostic data from the plant/machine is drawn by means of the SIMATIC Assessment Suite and analyzed and evaluated by the technical support. The result is provided in a system status report on the basis of which the preventive maintenance can be carried out.

The proactive module offers real time monitoring of the SIMATIC automation system used. Monitoring of critical system status information in real time and proactive responses by qualified specialists to occurring events are therefore offered.

The Virus Pattern Distribution module expands the SIMATIC Remote Services Portfolio by another proactive component that provides the current virus signatures to the system. The server for the current signatures is located in the highly secure area (DMZ) of the Siemens Remote Service Platform. It can be addressed via the existing VPN tunnel by a client or a local server in order to receive current signatures. This is where the scan software by Trend Micro is used.
