Delivery release for SIMOTION motion control system software, version V4.4 HF4

Effective immediately, SIMOTION software version V4.4 HF4 is released.

This release refers to:

  • Partial setup for SIMOTION SCOUT and SCOUT standalone V4.4 HF4
  • TIA Portal client setup for SIMOTION SCOUT TIA V4.4 HF4
  • SIMOTION C240/C240 PN kernel/firmware  V4.4 HF4
  • SIMOTION D410-2 kernel/firmware, V4.4 HF4
  • SIMOTION D4x5-2 kernel/firmware, V4.4 HF4
  • Firmware support package, V4.4 HF4
  • SIMOTION  CamTool V3.0 SP3 HF1

Firmware V4.4 is not available for SIMOTION P.
At a later point in time, a new SIMOTION P320-4 platform with firmware V4.4 will be released in the form of a hotfix for V4.4.

SIMOTION software version V4.4 HF4 resolves a series of functional restrictions of SIMOTION software version V4.4 HF1/2. Further, the performance of SIMOTION D425-2 and D435-2 has been optimized. This makes it possible to achieve somewhat lighter CPU loads depending on the particular application.

In the case of a fault, we recommend that HF4 is used. For the transition to hotfix 4, the corresponding setup of SIMOTION SCOUT must be carried out as well as the kernel/firmware version of the particular platform upgraded.

SIMOTION software version V4.4 HF1/2 still remains the standard delivery version.


Precondition for the installation is

  • for SCOUT, SCOUT or SCOUT standalone, version V4.4 HF2 must be installed on the engineering computer (the SCOUT installation is a partial setup)

  • for SCOUT TIA, TIA Portal Framework V13 must be installed on the engineering computer (SCOUT TIA is a TIA Portal client setup)

Once these preconditions have been satisfied, SCOUT or SCOUT TIA setup can be installed. After installation, the SIMOTION SCOUT engineering system has the version:

Projects do not have to be upgraded when changing from SIMOTION V4.4 HF1/2 to V4.4 HF4.

The following must be performed so that the new technology package can take effect in the existing configurations:

  • The new version of the technology package must be selected in the SCOUT dialog box "Select Technology Package" before the download.

  • The option "Replace product versions of the technology packages" must then be selected for "Download project to target system".

The updated SIMOTION software version V4.4 HF4 of the motion control technology package is then displayed in the device diagnostics after the download.

Please note that SIMOTION SCOUT TIA V4.4 HF4 can only be installed with the Totally Integrated Automation Portal V13. Installation with V13 SP1 is not possible, and will only be supported by a future SIMOTION SCOUT TIA V4.4 HF.


An HF1 is available for CamTool V3.0 SP3, which can be separately installed at a later point in time.


For SIMOTION C and D, the kernel/firmware of version V4.4 HF4 are available. The detailed versions including the safety versions can be taken from the readme file ( 176 KB ) .

The device update tool can be used to update a SIMOTION C and D from SIMOTION software version V4.1 SP2 to SIMOTION software version V4.4 HF4. Firmware support package V4.4 HF4 is required to do this.
