Configuration of SINAMICS G180 frequency converters in PCS 7

For the seamless integration of the SINAMICS G180 frequency converter in the SIMATIC PCS 7 process control system, Siemens offers a new channel block that provides the appropriate motor function in combination with the motor blocks of the Advanced Process Library (APL). The configuration of the drives as well as the operator control and monitoring takes place in the familiar PCS 7 environment.

The present application example describes the procedure to configure and assign parameters to the SINAMICS G180 frequency converter in PCS 7.
We provide the solution template which is based on the standard functions of the Advanced Process Library (APL) and leads to a significant reduction of your engineering costs, especially during initial integration. The solution shown can be used both for new configurations and for integration into existing projects.
The connection of the SINAMICS G180 is carried out with the APL channel block FbDrive and the motor-specific frame 1 or 20.
