SINAMICS PM240-2 frame size FSF has been released for delivery.

Brief description of the product and its highlights

The SINAMICS PM240-2 frame sizes FSD, FSE and FSF replace the previous SINAMICS Power Modules (3AC 400 V) PM240 FSD, FSE and FSF. They also extend the application area of the SINAMICS G120 to 200 V line supplies (3AC 200 V) and 500 V to 690 V line supplies. The new SINAMICS Power Module generation offers high power density in every frame size coupled with a smaller housing volume and can be connected directly in series without derating. For example, the FSD frame size of the SINAMICS PM240-2 is 1/4 narrower than the FSD frame size of the SINAMICS PM240 and covers a higher power range, now 37 kW Low Overload (LO) rather than 30 kW (PM240). The optimized connections (line and motor side) also simplify installation and maintenance work.

Frame size

The frame size is the key highlight of the new SINAMICS PM240-2 Power Modules. The following diagram shows the comparison to the previous SINAMICS PM240 3AC 400 V Power Modules. The Power Modules have been optimized to achieve a narrow design to address requirements of smaller electrical cabinets. In conjunction with the ability to mount them side-by-side without any derating, operation without line reactor saves a significant amount of space in the control cabinet.

The following general conditions must be complied with when using 2 output reactors connected in series:

  • Only rated pulse frequency or lower is permissible
  • Maximum output frequency 150Hz
  • (1) Operation with two reactors has not been released for 3AC 500 ... 690 V FSD to FSE
  • (2) When using an output reactor, the cable lengths are not extended (refer to the manual for reactor properties/attributes)
  • (3) Precondition is the use of a filtered Power Module
