SIMATIC S7-1500: Cam Control Unit with time-based IO
Material is to be applied on a continuous material line by means of spray nozzles. The material is applied depending on the position. The spray nozzles are controlled via the functionality of an electronic cam control unit depending on the actual position of the continuous material line.

The TM Timer DIDQ technology module is connected to the SIMATIC CPU via an interface module by means of an isochronous PROFINET connection. The SIMATIC CPU processes the individual tracks of the cam control unit that are stored as technology objects in the SIMATIC CPU as of version 14 of the TIA Portal and assigned to the axis and/or the external encoder of the material line. Up to 32 position or time-based cams can be assigned to each cam track via the technology object, whereby only one cam type each can be used per cam track. More detailed information on the application of the cam track technology object can found in the motion control manual (see entry ID 109481326) or in the TIA Portal V14 Online Help.
So far, this is where there used to be an applicative solution of a cam control unit for the TIA Portal V13 SP1 that has now been replaced by the technology objects of the TIA Portal V14.
