As a response to a discrepancy error with active STO via the terminals on the PM240-2 FSD and FSE Power Modules, simple test criteria must be met.

Question:
How can I handle a discrepancy error with active STO on the PM240-2 FSD and FSE Power Modules?

Answer:
The inverter responds to a discrepancy of the safe input with the active safety function STO.
The behavior of the inverter depends on the wiring and setting of the inverter. When using the STO function via the terminals on the PM240-2 FSD and FSE Power Modules, for all applications up to SIL 3 and/or PL e the following steps have to be carried out in addition to the Safety Integrated Function Manual (Link), Chapter 6.3.3 case 3:

Case 3: Switching on the motor after a discrepancy 
Process

To switch on the motor again, proceed as follows:

  1. Remove the discrepancy.
  2. Acknowledge the discrepancy message.

  3. Acknowledge the inverter with the "standard" acknowledge signal.
  4. Select and deselect the STO function via the terminals on the Power Module.
    This leads to forced dormant error detection (test stop) of the STO terminals on the PM240-2 FSD and FSE Power Modules. The inverter carries out a self-test and checks its circuits to switch off the torque.
  5. Issue an OFF1 command (ON/OFF1 = 0).
  6. Switch on the motor (ON/OFF1 = 1).

You have acknowledged the discrepancy message, and switched on the motor again.
