How do you assign the IP configuration of the X2 interface after installing WinAC RTX 2010 SP1 or higher on the Embedded Controller EC31?
It is still possible to go via the Windows Control Panel to assign the IP configuration for the X2 interface after installing WinAC RTX 2010 SP1 or higher.
Access to the Embedded Controller is via either
- the expansion module EM PC (6ES7677-1DD50-2AA0) or
- the Windows Remote Desktop.
More information about this is available in Entry ID 52257892.
The requirement for access to the Embedded Controller is that the current address of the X2 interface is known and remote access is enabled on the device.
In the as-delivered status this IP address is assigned by default: "192.168.2.1/ 255.255.255.0" and access via the Windows Remote Desktop is enabled.
Establish Remote Desktop Connection
Proceed as follows to establish a connection to the Embedded Controller via Windows Remote Desktop:
- In the Windows Start bar go to "Start >All Programs>Accessories > Communications > Remote Desktop Connection".
- Enter the current IP address of the X2 interface and then click "Connect“.
The "Log On to Windows" dialog opens. If the LED U4 lights, it is possible to establish a connection to the Embedded Controller via Remote Desktop.
- In the "Log On to Windows" dialog you enter the "User name" and "Password".
"Administrator" is set by default as the user name and the password is "admin".
The Windows user interface is displayed. Now you can make your Windows configuration.
Assign IP address of the X2 interface
Follow the steps below as soon as you are logged on to the Embedded Controller:
- Select "Start> Control Panel".
Double-click "Network Connections".
Right-click the icon of the network adapter "Local Area Connection National Semiconductor Corp." and select "Properties" in the pop-up menu.
Go to the "General" tab, select "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" and then click "Properties".
In the dialog that opens you enter your required IP address and close the dialog with OK.
Bear in mind that the Remote Desktop Connection disconnects as soon as the new IP configuration is applied. In order to re-establish the connection to the Embedded Controller you execute the steps described under "Establish Remote Desktop Connection" using the newly set IP address.
