In STEP 7 (TIA Portal), how do you transfer the values between the "Monitor value" and "Start value" columns with the Global DBs?
In STEP 7 (TIA Portal) V14 and higher the toolbar in the global data blocks has been improved making it easier to use. You can now transfer the start values directly to the "Monitor value" column. If you want to copy the monitor values to the "Start value" column, you must first save the values in the main memory for the data block. A time stamp (date) for this snapshot is displayed under the toolbar. You can then save the values from the snapshot as start values.
Using the "Copy snapshots to start values" and "Load start values as actual values" functions you can copy either all the values or selected values.
Changing the tag values while the plant is running can lead to serious damage to property or persons if errors occur in the function or in the program. Refer here to the information in the STEP 7 (TIA Portal) manual under Danger when changing tag values.
More information is available in the STEP 7 (TIA Portal) manual under "Overview of the online and diagnostic functions in data blocks".
Applying values from the online program as start values
Open the configuration for the technology object ("PID_Compact" or "PID_3Step") and select the "Function View" tab. Then switch to the Online view and click the icon as in Fig. 2:
- "Generate snapshots of the monitor values and apply the setpoint values of these snapshots as start values"
If you want to transfer the values of individual parameters that are not marked as setpoint values from the "Snapshot" column to the "Start value in the project" column, you copy the values from the pop-up menu using the "Copy" command and use the "Paste" command to paste them into the "Start value in the project" column.
