SIMOTION: Acyclic Reading and Writing with the IO-Link Library

With the help of the IO-Link library “LioLink”, you can access measured values, diagnostic and parameter data of the IO-Link device as well as backup or restore the parametrization of IO-Link masters.

The decentralized periphery SIMATIC ET 200 with IO-Link master modules provides a quick and simple IO-Link communication with sensors and actuators.

Between SIMOTION and the IO-Link master modules, the switching states of the IO-Link devices connected to the IO-Link master modules are exchanged cyclically.
Additionally, via an acyclic access, parameters, measured values and diagnostic data can be accessed or system commands can be sent. For this, this application example provides two function blocks:

  • You can backup or restore the device parameters and settings of an IO-Link communication module/IO-Link master (e.g. ET 200SP CM 4xIO-Link) with the help of the “FBIoLinkMaster” function block.
  • Using this „FBIoLinkDevice“ function block helps you read parameters, measured values and diagnosic data from an IO-Link device in the SIMOTION program, or write device parameters to an IO-Link device or send system commands.
