Multi-Zone Control with "PID_Temp” for SIMATIC S7-1200/S7-1500

The application example shows the approach for tuning the controllers of thermally coupled systems.

For a multi-zone control several zones of a plant are simultaneously controlled at different temperatures (example: extruder).
The actual value of a zone influences the value of the neighboring zone by heat coupling.



With the technology object "PID_Temp”, SIMATIC S7-1200 and S7-1500 offers a continuous PID controller with configuration and commissioning interface.
The controller block is especially designed for temperature control and is suitable for heating or heating/cooling applications.
Two outputs are available for this purpose, one for heating and one for cooling.
For the multi-zone controller each zone is controlled with an instance of the "PID_Temp".

This application example gives you a detailed description of how to use the integrated tuning methods pretuning and fine tuning, in order to get to a stable control of the complex multi-zone controller topic.
