This entry contains information about how to proceed when the above warning message appears when updating installed TIA Portal products to V14 SP1.

QUESTION:

Is it allowed to carry out updates of the following TIA Portal products

  • SIMATIC STEP 7
  • SIMATIC STEP 7 Safety
  • SIMATIC WinCC
  • SINAMICS Startdrive
  • SIMOTION SCOUT TIA

when SIMOCODE ES V14 or Soft Starter ES V14 is installed on the computer?

ANSWER:

It is only possible to update the following TIA Portal products

  • SIMATIC STEP 7
  • SIMATIC STEP 7 Safety
  • SIMATIC WinCC
  • SINAMICS Startdrive
  • SIMOTION SCOUT TIA

when the V14 SP1 versions are available for SIMOCODE ES and Soft Starter ES.
You can find information about the availability in the Entries 109745880 (SIMOCODE ES) and ID 109745881 (Soft Starter ES).

Note:

When updating TIA Portal products to V14 SP1, a warning message is issued if other TIA Portal products with Version V14 are installed on the computer.
A warning message example is shown in Fig. 1

Please end the update operation using the "No" (Nein) button (Fig. 1).

Notice:
If you do still carry out the update, it will then no longer be possible to use any of the installed products of the TIA Portal on the target computer.
An error message then appears after starting the TIA Portal, telling you that the application cannot be started.

In this case, all the installed products of the TIA Portal must be uninstalled and compatible product versions (e.g. V14) must be reinstalled.

Note:

If SIMOCODE ES V14 or Soft Starter ES V14 are uninstalled, projects which were created with SIMOCODE ES V14 or Soft Starter ES V14 installed can no longer be opened.
