How do you use the PROFIBUS optical cables for PROFINET?

When exchanging the interface modules between electrical and optical transmission you can use the existing PROFIBUS fiber optic cables also with PROFINET.

Fiber optic cables of glass, PCF (Polymer Cladded Fiber) and POF (Plastic Optic Fiber) are released for optical transmission with PROFIBUS. These can have different dimensions and connection types.
The following table gives an overview of the cables and connector types permitted for the optical PROFIBUS.

The transfer from optical to electrical transmission with PROFIBUS is done via the Optical Link Modules (OLM).
The two following figures show an example of how PROFIBUS fiber optic cables are used for PROFINET.
