Line Integration at the Food & Beverage Industry - Brownfield Connection Concept
A special solution is required for existing systems in which it is not possible to integrate the Plant Data Interface into the control system or for which there is no option of communicating with the superordinate SIMATIC WinCC via a communication protocol.
The Brownfield Connection Concept for connecting existing systems (PWA Box) is based on the Plant Data Interface. The solution enables the seamless integration of an old machine into the line integration concept for which it is not possible to integrate the plant data interface or for which there is no option of communicating with the superordinate SIMATIC WinCC via a communication protocol.
In this solution, the plant data interface (PDI Basic) is integrated into a SIMATIC S7 1200 and the information necessary for this purpose is generated via a sensor system and physical signals which are collected via the module periphery. No intervention into the existing automation system is necessary. Configuration is done exclusively via the web interface of the control System.
The software is based on the international standards of OMAC-User Group and Weihenstephan Standards, which sets the industry-standard for the according data interfaces.
For questions concerning the application, please feel free to address your local Siemens contact.
