SIMATIC S7-1500(T): "LSimaHydTO" for hydraulic applications and hydraulic presses

The "LSimaHydTO" block library enables closed-loop control of hydraulic axes with the SIMATIC S7-1500(T). With the help of modular function blocks, it is possible to realize not only valve-controlled hydraulic applications, but also those with variable-RPM pump drive (servo pump).

The "LSimaHydTO" block library enables closed-loop control of hydraulic axes with the SIMATIC S7-1500(T).

Hydraulic axes are not directly supported in the current firmware version of the SIMATIC S7-1500(T) controller. With the help of modular function blocks from the "LSimaHydTO" block library in extension to the technology objects of the SIMATIC S7-1500(T), both valve-controlled hydraulic applications as well as those with variable-RPM pump drive (servo pump) can be realized.

The Motion Control functions of the positioning/synchronization axis technology objects of the SIMATIC S7-1500(T) can be used for motion control of the included hydraulic axes.

The following core functions are contained in the "LSimaHydTO" block library or in the included example program:

  • Closed-loop control of hydraulic axes by means of a closed-loop controller contained within a function block; the closed-loop controller is run in the "MC-PostServo" OB in the controller and contains the following functions:
    • Closed-loop control of a hydraulic axis.
    • Pressure and force control of a hydraulic axis with direct switchover between position and pressure regulation.
  • Various ways of driving hydraulic axes:
    • Analog output of the setpoint value for driving hydraulic axis valve(s).
    • Output of an RPM setpoint value via PROFIdrive telegram for driving a hydraulic axis with the help of a servo pump, for example, driven via the SINAMICS S120 drive system.
  • Compensation for nonlinearities of the drive valve in a hydraulic axis by means of a valve characteristic curve, which can be integrated into the closed-loop control.
  • Function blocks for simulating a hydraulic axis in order to easily test the contained functionalities.
  • HMI user interface for monitoring & control of the movements of the hydraulic axis, as well as for entering the axis parameters and automatic measurement of the compensation characteristic curve of the hydraulic valve being used/simulated.

The application can run on any S7-1500 Standard and Technology CPU, as well as on the SIMATIC ET200 SP Open Controller.
