How do you use the Unified Write Filter in Windows 10?
The Unified Write Filter (UWF) is a configurable write filter that makes it possible to provide write protection for data carriers like hard disks, SSDs, SIMATIC IPC CFast cards or external SATA drives.
External interchangeable media like USB sticks and other flash drives that are recognized by the operating system as interchangeable media are not supported.
The UWF combines the advantages of older write filters like Enhanced Write Filter (EWF) and File Based Write Filter (FBWF). It prevents all write access to protected media and diverts the data to a buffer memory (overlay). This increases the reliability and stability of the system and service life of write-sensitive media like SSDs and CFast cards.
In the following documentation you will be shown how to install and configure the Unified Write Filter.
