SIMOCODE pro block library for SIMATIC PCS 7 - Overview

General information

Using the SIMOCODE pro block library for SIMATIC PCS 7 V9, the SIMOCODE pro motor management system with the SIMOCODE pro C, SIMOCODE pro V and SIMOCODE pro V PN basic units can be easily and conveniently integrated into the SIMATIC PCS 7 V9 process control system with Advanced Process Library.

One focus here is on easy configuration, because the number of required configuration steps is reduced crucially. The configuration of the modules is based on the PCS 7 standard configuration processes and is optimally harmonized with the functions of SIMOCODE pro. Users who have previously integrated conventional motor feeders into PCS 7 will therefore find it easy to switch to SIMOCODE pro.

Different versions of the block library are offered for the various versions of PCS 7.

The "Engineering software" version of the block library is necessary for use in a PCS 7 system. This version includes a single license for an engineering station, a single license for an automation system (AS), as well as the AS blocks (runtime software for the automation system) and faceplates required to integrate SIMOCODE pro into the PCS 7 process control system.

If the PCS 7 system comprises multiple automation systems (AS), then an additional runtime license is required for each additional AS (offered with a separate article number). The blocks of the engineering software can be used in the PCS 7 system in multiple AS.

The Advanced Process Library (APL) was introduced as of PCS 7 version V8. The block interfaces of the engineering software have been appropriately adapted to allow the associated block libraries to use the APL interconnection logic.

The block library is offered as a migration version for the conversion from an existing PCS 7 version without APL to a higher PCS 7 version (e.g. from PCS 7 V7 to PCS 7 V9) with little adaptation effort in the PCS 7 project. The options of the APL logic cannot be used if the engineering software Migration is used.
