Product description  

The SINEC NMS software is a network management system for monitoring and managing industrial networks. It enables you to fully visualize and monitor networks. Using SNMP and simultaneous diagnostics with SIMATIC and PROFINET mechanisms, you can map many aspects of plant and network diagnostics in just one tool. Using the distributed approach of SINEC NMS, the network infrastructures can be expanded at any time.  The acquired data is stored in a long-term archive and can be evaluated and displayed as necessary. The predefined network diagnostics can also be seamlessly integrated into HMI/SCADA systems (e.g. WinCC, PCS 7) via OPC UA and web mechanisms.

In addition, SINEC NMS enables you to configure the network infrastructure. Using the rule-based approach, you can configure across devices in the network independent of device types, or you can regularly back up the device configurations to keep up with configuration changes. Another major point is the central function for a firmware update in the network infrastructure.


Main features: 

Inventory list

  • SINEC NMS detects all devices on the network. This means an up-to-date overview of all installed components including all their essential features is produced in the network. 

Topology

  • The plant topology is automatically read out, depicted and monitored for changes.

  • The type of medium, redundancy and VLANs are displayed graphically.

  • Wireless connections between access points and client modules (SCALANCE W) are displayed. 

Monitoring

  • Diagnostics data is collected from all network nodes and centrally archived.

  • Besides SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol), it is also possible to directly access SIMATIC controllers (S7-300/S7-400) or PROFINET nodes via "Read data record".

  • SIMATIC S7-1200 and S7-1500 are detected and completely read out via SNMP.

  • Diagnostics of NAT routers (Network Address Translation).

  • Detection and display of devices with IPv6 addresses. 

Diagnostics

  • Overall network status is displayed in a central dashboard.

  • Diagnostic states are signaled as events and the corresponding devices highlighted in color in the user interface. This enables faults to be detected early.

  • Easy localization of faults thanks to a structured user interface (views) and display of the diagnostics in the topology. 

Reporting

  • Statistics can be displayed and evaluated over any time period. This makes for easy evaluation of historical events. 

Validation

  • Major properties of the network can be tested and documented repeatedly by means of configurable test patterns.

  • The validation result is stored together with all the underlying data as a PDF. 

Further processing

  • A variety of interfaces (e.g. HTTPS, OPC UA) enable network and diagnostic data to be displayed and processed further in higher-level systems.

  • Emails can be triggered based on specific events. 

Configuration management:

  • Rule-based configuration (policy-based) of a wide range of network functions, such as LAN/WLAN parameters. 

  • Bulk operation for device configuration for individual or multiple SCALANCE components.

  • Backup/restoring and comparison of the device configurations of SCALANCE components. 

Firmware management:

  • Bulk operation for firmware update for individual or multiple SCALANCE components.

  • Firmware update function that takes topology into account. 

User management:

  • Central management of roles and rights in the overall system.

  • Use of users from RADIUS or active directory via UMC (User Management Components).
