Sales release for output reactor 690 V G120X/G120 PM240-2 3 up to 250 kW

The output reactors for the 690 V voltage class, which can be used together with the SINAMICS G120 PM240-2 Power Module and the SINAMICS G120X converter, are hereby released for sale. Delivery release is scheduled for January 2019.

Customer benefit
Output reactors reduce the voltage stress on the motor windings. At the same time, the capacitive charge/discharge currents that place an additional load on the converter when long motor connection cable are used, are reduced. This means longer motor connection cables can be used.

The output reactors are a more cost-effective solution compared to the dv/dt  filter plus VPL for implementing longer lines in the applications.

Requirements / dependencies

The output reactors in IP00 for the FSD-G 690 V (3 kW to 250 kW) can be operated with the following converters:

  • SINAMICS  G120 (with Power Module PM240-2)  690 V

  • SINAMICS  G120X                                               690 V        

Areas of application / typical applications

Output reactors permit longer cable lengths between the converter and motor.   
Longer cables are often required in the following sectors:

  • Heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC)
  • Water/wastewater

Sales strategy

The new output reactors are part of the SINAMICS G options and supplement the above-mentioned converters. The output reactors are commercial goods which we distribute under the original manufacturer's name. The components have an order number and can be obtained through the Siemens ordering processes.

Supplementary conditions

  • SINAMICS firmware version V4.7 SP10 or higher is required when the output reactor 690 V is connected to SINAMICS G120X/SINAMICS G120 with Power Module PM240-2. When using a firmware version under V4.7 SP10, please contact the Siemens Technical Support.
  • SINAMICS firmware version V5.1 SP1 or higher is required when the output reactor 690 V is connected to SINAMICS S120 with Power Module PM240-2. When using a firmware version under V5.1 SP1, please contact the Siemens Technical Support  .  
  • The maximum cable length between output reactor 690 V and converter is 5 m. 
  • Input und output connection of the output reactor 690 V must not be interchanged. Otherwise, the converter can be permanently damaged.
