Description:

Checking the firmware version for F-validity:

When using a new firmware version, please check whether the utilized firmware version is authorized for use in the respective module. The Appendix (Annex 1) of the Certificate indicates which firmware version is authorized.


Prerequisites for the firmware update of an ET200M F-AI 6x0/4 to 20mA HART:

  • As of STEP 7 V5.4 SP3 and TIA-Portal STEP 7 Professional V11
  • The firmware update can only be performed when the F-CPU/IM is in the STOP state.
  • You will have to connect the 24 V DC supply to update the firmware of the F-SM.

Note
Make sure that the external auxiliary voltage of the module is switched on before and during the
update operation.


Instructions for firmware update of an ET200M F-AI 6x0/4 to 20mA HART as of STEP 7 V5.4 SP3:

  1. Switch the F-CPU/IM to STOP mode.
  2. Select the F-SM in HW Config.
  3. Select the menu command PLC > Update firmware.
  4. Use the "Browse" button to select the path to the firmware files (*.upd).
  5. Click "Run".
    The module executes the firmware update. During the firmware update, the SFLED flashes at 0.5 Hz.

Note:
Display the firmware version of the module to verify that the
firmware update was performed on the right module.

Instructions for firmware update of an ET200M F-AI 6x0/4 to 20mA HART as of TIA Portal STEP 7 Professional V11:

  1. Open the module in the online and diagnostics view.
  2. Select the "Firmware Update" group from the "Functions" folder.
  3. Click on the "Browse" button in the "Firmware Loader" area to select the path
    to the firmware update files.
  4. Select one of these files. The table then lists all modules
    for which an update is possible with the selected firmware file.
  5. Optional: Select the "Activate firmware after update" check box to
    automatically reset the module after loading and to start the new
    firmware.
  6. Click the "Start Update" button. If the selected file can be interpreted by
    the module, it is loaded into the module. If the
    operating mode of the CPU needs to be changed, you are prompted via
    dialogs.

Note:
Display the firmware version of the module to verify that the
firmware update was performed on the right module.

Note
If the firmware update was canceled, an incoming time-out error occurs on the module. Wait until the module has entered the time-out error as an outgoing error.
Then you can perform the firmware update again.


Identifying firmware
After the firmware update, you must identify the firmware version on the module.

Production-related change

The new firmware V1.0.5 can only be installed from product version 04. It also contains the changes from all previous versions.

 

Firmware V1.0.4 (6AG1336-4GE00-2AB0)

The firmware of the fail-safe analog input module has been revised in the context of product maintenance.

This diagnostic behavior of the module can be elicited through improper operation and even with activated HART communication (Hart_Gate check). Although extremely rare, it can lead to passivation. This measure is designed to optimize the behavior.
