Why does STEP 7 (TIA Portal) V15.1 crash when you are looking for cross-references with the S7-1200 CPU?
With STEP 7 (TIA Portal) V15.1 Update 2 it might happen that when you open the Cross-reference Editor, STEP 7 (TIA Portal) crashes if you are using the timer types TON, TOF, TP or TONR. You also get the error message shown in Fig. 1.
If you click on the "Show data" button, you get the information from the TIA Portal Diagnostics Report.
However, the program crash only happens when the block is used in a CPU of the S7-1200 product family. If you copy the same block into the program folder of a S7-1500 CPU (in the same project), the cross-reference search does not cause a crash.
The behavior described above is cleared with Update 3 for STEP 7 (TIA Portal) V15.1. With the Newsletter, you can be informed when the download for Update 3 (planned for August) will be available to you.
For the time being use the menu command "Edit > Search in project".
If the menu command "Search in project" is grayed out, you have to enable "Global Search" beforehand. In STEP 7 (TIA Portal) V15.1 you open the dialog "Options > Settings" and then navigate to "General > Search in project". Enable the function "Enable 'Search in project'".
