Redesign of SIMOTICS L-1FN3 precision cooler

The precision cooler for the SIMOTICS L-1FN3 primary section has been reworked and now includes new, enhanced properties.

from now on all sizes of the precision cooler will only be delivered in the new version (mechanically compatible re-design).

The precision cooler for the SIMOTICS L-1FN3 primary section has been reworked and now includes new, additional optional functions with the sales release scheduled for Oct. 1, 2019 .
The mechanical dimensions remain unchanged compared to the predecessor model .
The thermal decoupling of the primary section from the customer machine, aimed at achieving utmost precision in machine building, is supplemented by an option which additionally protects the motor against demanding ambient conditions.
Harsh ambient conditions, for example, in the working area of a machine tool place high demands on the L-1FN3 linear motor.
This is why the new additional O-ring option on the upper and lower side of the precision cooler base frame, positioned around the screw holes, prevents liquids and process fluids from penetrating into the inside of the motor.

However, this does not lead to a change of the currently specified protection class IP65.

The following innovations result:
The mounting holes in the cooler base frame have been reworked to integrate new spacers.
The design and material of the spacers between primary section and cooler base frame have been modified, and the spacers are provided as standard with circular grooves for the integration of O-rings.

As this is a mechanically compatible redesign, the article number of the precision cooler remains unchanged.

Delivery release is scheduled to take place on Nov. 1, 2019.

Customers who wish to receive the version providing enhanced ruggedness using O-rings as from delivery release must additionally order the Z-option R01.

We estimate that the existing precision cooler inventories will be reduced until May 1, 2020. During this time, both old and new precision coolers may be delivered. The delivery depends on frame size-based consumption.



Further, the packaging concept has been amended such that the dimensions have changed compared to the current version. With the old packaging, a precision cooler wrapped with blister foil was packed in a cardboard box. The new packaging is based on the primary section packaging, where the precision cooler is stretched onto a support with foil and packed in an outer packing.

The new dimensions of the cardboard packaging are as follows:

First, the reworked variant will be provided for precision coolers with frame sizes 1FN3300 to 1FN3900.

Another delivery release for the frame sizes 1FN3050 to 1FN3150 is scheduled for Jan. 1, 2020.
