- Virtual Commissioning with SIMIT and PLCSIM Advanced
This application example demonstrates possibilities of virtual commissioning using SIMATIC Machine Simulator including SIMIT and SIMATIC S7-PLCSIM Advanced.
For this purpose a simple demo machine was designed. Goal of the machine is filling and capping bottles travelling on a conveyor. PLC program for this machine was prepared in TIA Portal and virtually commissioned with help of SIMIT.
- Motor Sizing with NX MCD
This example describes an approach how to select a motor with the help of NX Mechatronics Concept Designer and SIZER.
During the development of a machine, the motor sizing plays an essential role. With NX MCD (Mechatronics Concept Designer), it is possible to do motor selection in addition to the software SIZER. Due to the kinematic design, including mechanics and physics simulation in MCD, it’s possible to export the simulation result to SIZER to do a further selection. Limitations of the physics simulation with NX MCD must be taken into account.

This application example allows you to simulate a continuous web process of your converting machine in order to virtually commission your PLC program using PLCSIM Advanced and SIMIT. Mechanical and process elements like winders, driven axes, guide rolls, dancers, and the web behavior can be modeled with the described simulation components. Among others this allows you to test and validate your winder and web tension control in the virtual environment.

The Hairpin TIA application allows the operator to simulate an example for a hairpin production machine using PLCSIM Advanced, SIMIT and NX Mechatronics Concept Designer (MCD).
- MCD/SIMIT model for Intelligent Belt - Multi Belt Control
In this application example you can simulate the SIMATIC Intelligent Belt application with PLCSIM Advanced, SIMIT and NX Mechatronics Concept Designer (MCD). The MCD model therefore consists of two individually controllable belts and a loading and unloading station and simulates their kinematics. In addition, a SIMIT model is provided to simulate the behavior model for this machine and PLCSIM Advanced is used to emulate a SIMATIC S7-1500 controller.

With SIMOSIM Advanced one or several SIMOTION D CPUs can be simulated in combination with a behavior model in SIMIT.The focus of SIMOSIM, which is already included in SIMOTION SCOUT, is testing the program during the development. The focus of SIMOSIM Advanced is to perform integration and system test scenarios. In combination with SIMIT and NX Mechatronics Concept Designer (NX MCD) you have all necessary components to perform a virtual commissioning of a machine.
- SIMIT - EtherNet/IP Coupling
This application enables Rockwell PLCs to be integrated in SIMIT simulations.
The Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) simulation is based on an external coupling, which can be added to the SIMIT installation. A graphical user interface is provided to import tags from an as L5X-File exported Rockwell Logix Designer project. During simulation, SIMIT reads and writes the imported tags periodically.

In order to reduce risks and effort during the real commissioning, the virtual commissioning of a machine offers an efficient alternative.
This application example describes how to use the provided Unity package to build up a kinematic model based on existing 3D data and connect it with a SIMIT project.

SIMIT natively offers several built-in couplings. Additional it´s possible to expand these functionality by creating additional couplings.
