Changing the names for products and solutions. The previous "IT-Solutions" name will, in the future, be called "Motion Control Information System"

The names for products and solutions of the previous  IT-Solutions - software products and solutions - will be modified. In the future, the general term "IT Solutions" will be clearly assigned to the "Motion Control" area using the name "Motion Control Information System (MCIS)".

Objective The goal is to have clear, standard names over all Motion Control Information System subjects. The modular and scalable structure of the software modules within the system should be able to be recognized from the name. The name schematic can then represent future expanded functionality.  

Structure of the software component names

Every software component starts with a three-letter abbreviation - which is oriented to the subject and the previous designation:

TPM: Totally Productive Maintenance

- Service/maintenance

- Previously  

DNC: Direct Numeric Control

- NC program management

- Previously
  DNC NT-2000

TDI:   Tool Data Information

- Tool management

- Previously SinTDI,

RCS:  Remote Control System

- Remote diagnostics

- Previously remote

MDA: Machine Data Acquisition

- Machine data management

- Previously

PMT: Part Monitoring and Tracking

- Part tracking

- Previously

PDA: Production Data Acquisition

- Task management

- Previously

RPC:  Remote Procedure Call

- Computer coupling

- Previously

This is followed by a structured description to use the software components:

Subject Machine:

System capable of standalone operation at the control level with operator interface (this can also run without cell and plant)
Subject Cell:

Single-station solution, data acquisition and local evaluation on a PC, on a number of machines which is limited to 16

Subject Plant: Multi-station system with server for use in projects (from 16 machines and more), powerful database
Subject IFC: Non stand-alone capable interface client (this must be networked with a cell/plant), can contain an operator interface
Subject  HMI: Operator interface on a PC, licenses per PC - operator station)
Subject Function: Additional, optional functionality
