The Advanced User Administrator (AUA) for the centralized administration of any application of a plant, such as PCS 7 OS, BATCH flexible or other, is now available in version 2.2. Owners of version 2.1 can use the "Order" form in the download entry ID 16680974 to order a free upgrade to version 2.2.

1 Product description

1.1 Application / placement

The Advanced User Administrator (AUA) software enables the user to centrally administrate any systems or applications of a plant. In the SIMATIC PCS 7 environment this can be SIMATIC PCS 7 Operator Stations for operator input and monitoring, BATCH flexible for batch control and MIS Light for data acquisition and evaluation.

In addition to the standard interfaces for the above systems and applications, AUA offers the possibility to include any application in the user administration of AUA, by means of a pre-defined interface. Suitable interface examples in Visual Basic and Visual C++ are included in the scope of supply.

In the SIMATIC PCS 7 environment the AUA can be operated on many different system structures, such as single-user stations, or client-server and multi-client architectures. To increase data integrity, the AUA database can be installed on a separate file server.

AUA V2.2 can be used with WinCC V4.02/V5.x, SIMATIC PCS 7 V4.02/V5.x and BATCH flexible V4.02.

1.2 Product features / scope of performance

The AUA provides numerous safety mechanisms - both on the administrator and on the user side. The user is positively identified by means of a User ID, User Name and User Password. This user information is stored on a central database in encoded form. Functions such as password ageing, automatic logoff after a pre-defined time and disabling after repeated entering of an incorrect password ensure the highest level of operational safety.

The administrator can setup new users or disable existing users on-line throughout the system and application.

The requirements of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) are met such, that all user and administrator actions, such as login, logout, password changes, incorrect password entries, setup and deletion of users, etc., are stored in a protected database together with a time stamp and can thus be evaluated if necessary.

In conjunction with BATCH flexible V4.02 + HF4 and higher, an interface for the electronic signature of jobs permits a very simple and unforgeable verification of batch reports in line with FDA requirements.

Functional changes of the AUA version 2.2 compared to V2.1:

  • Complete deactivation of self-created users
  • Logging of all administrator actions in the administrator dialog with old and new values
  • Adjustment of the window size of the administrator dialog to a screen resolution of 640 x 480
  • The last window size and position of the administrator dialog are stored and will return when the window is opened again.
  • Reliable storage of the Audit Trail in the MIS-Light database
  • The new password must have at least 8 and not more than 24 characters.
