Shrinking a WinCC project

Description
To reduce the data volume of a SIMATIC WinCC project, you can delete the accumulated Runtime data. You can only delete Runtime data if WinCC Runtime has not been started.

Important note
Following the instructions below you permanently delete the archive data. Make a backup of the project and online data beforehand.

Instructions

  • Open the WinCC project with the WinCC Explorer.
  • Open the Alarm Logging Editor and right-click to select "Messages > Archive Configuration > Long-term archive > Reset". Acknowledge the message with "Yes". This deletes the Alarm Logging Runtime data in the archives.
  • Close the Alarm Logging Editor.
  • Open the Tag Logging Editor and right-click to select "Tag Logging > Archives > Archive Configuration >Tag Logging Fast > Reset". Acknowledge the message with "Yes".
  • Right-click to select "Tag Logging > Archives > Archive Configuration >Tag Logging Slow > Reset". Acknowledge the message with "Yes". This deletes the Tag Logging Runtime data.
  • Close the Tag Logging Editor.

Also delete the backup files (*.sav) of your screens in the GraCs folder of your project.
