Upgrading from CB1 to CBP2.

In a system with MASTERDRIVES frequency converter CU2, I have to replace the CB1 communication module by the current CBP2 module. What do I have to watch out for when I do this?

The new CBP2 PROFIBUS module (6SX7010-0FF05 or 6SE7090-0XX84-0FF5) is fully compatible with the basic CU2 module.
- 6SX7010-0FF05: CBP2 and instruction manual
- 6SE7090-0XX84-0FF5: CBP2 only

Adaptations nevertheless have to be made.

If a T100 is installed in the existing Masterdrive unit with CU2 and CB1, the system can only be retrofit to CUVC and CBP2 if the T100 has the version V1.2 (or later / as from 1998), to be read off in the parameter d002. The CBP2 is not identified with older T100 modules with V1.0. CUVC, T100 V1.0 and CB1 can, however, be operated.

- An ADB adaptation board (6SE7090-0XX84-0KA0) is required, on which the CBP2 can be plugged in. The ADB is then plugged into the local bus adapter (LBA), which already has to be present in the electronics box because of the CB1. If the CU2 is upgraded to CUVC at the same time, the CBP2 can be plugged directly into this module.

- The hardware configuration has to be changed: Delete Masterdrives CB1 and replace the object with Masterdrives/DC Master CBPx, or Masterdrives CBP/CBP2 if you use an older version of STEP7. The CBP2 is fully compatible with the CBP.

- The connector for the PROFIBUS cable is different: SUB-D on CBP2

Further information can be found in the appendix. The PROFIBUS pages are from the CU2
--> CUVC conversion guide.

Important note:
This guide describes the technical status at the time of printing (1997). Since then, much of the product information has changed as a result of technical innovations. Many of the products mentioned have been phased out (SIMOVIS / DVA_S7) or improved (versions of STEP7; CB1 also compatible to the current versions of CUVC and CUMC; CBP replaced by CBP2); and new products have been added (DriveES / DriveMonitor). Nothing has changed in the basic procedure for replacing a CB1 by a CBP2.
