  • Associated product(s)

Effective immediately, the SIMATIC WinCC/Dat@Monitor V6.0 SP1 is available for delivery. Please note that this new version REQUIRES WinCC V6 SP2. A corresponding update from WinCC V6.x to SP2 can be requested via the Internet (article ID 18803944). With the availability of the Dat@Monitor V6.0 SP1, the sale of the SIMATIC WinCC/Dat@Monitor V6.0 will be stopped. The new version cannot be installed on WinCC stations with older version levels (WinCC V6.0 or WinCC V5.x).

1.0 SIMATIC WinCC/Dat@Monitor V6.0 SP1 - What's new?

With Version 6.0 SP1, new functions are introduced. They are:

  • Support for Windows 2003 and Windows 2000 SP4

  • Automatic reconnect in Dat@Symphony

  • Expanded installation options in Windows 2000 networks

  • Support for alarm archives in Dat@Workbook

  • Performance enhancements in Dat@View

In addition, all previously published hotfixes are being consolidated in V6.0 SP1.

1.1 Support for Windows 2003 und Windows 2000 SP4

Starting with the Dat@Monitor V6.0 SP1, the operation under Windows 2003 (Server) and Windows 2000 SP4 (Professional, Server) is released on the server-side as well as the client-side (in addition to the previously released operating systems).

1.2 Automatic Reconnect

Currently, if a Dat@Monitor server fails, the Dat@Symphony clients connected to it are informed about this circumstance, but a reconnection is only possible through repeated manual interaction. Starting with SP1, it can now be specified for each server whether and in what cycle an automatic reconnect should be performed.

1.4 Expanded Installation Options in Windows 2000 Networks

Starting with the Dat@Monitor V6.0 SP1, it is now also possible to install the client components under limited Windows user rights. This is particularly useful for network installation in Windows 2000/2003 domains, in which users are granted only extremely limited rights.

Depending on the selected installation type, the client software can be published for a certain group of users, who can then actively start this installation. As an alternative, the installation of the Dat@Monitor clients can also be specified for certain user logins, which is then automatically executed upon login. System administrators have the ability to configure the installation paths.

1.5 Support for Alarm Archives in Dat@Workbook

Starting with the Dat@Monitor V6.0 SP1, it is now also possible to integrate alarm archive data in Excel reports. In this manner, statistical analyses of alarm states can be employed to - for example - determine the availability and failure behavior of machines/lines/processes. For each alarm archive, the alarm blocks, time ranges and selection criteria to be analyzed can be configured.

1.6 Performance Enhancements in Dat@View

In Dat@View, a number of performance enhancements result in a faster data retrieval.

When accessing the Dat@View server, it is now also possible to include swapped out database segments located on the server in the analysis.

2.0 Updates and Compatibility to older Dat@Monitor Versions

Updates from the Dat@Monitor V6.0 to SP1 can be ordered via the download pages of the Customer Support website (article ID: 19064108).

2.1 Dat@Monitor Server
Older Dat@Monitor versions can be upgraded to V6 SP1. In this case, the old Dat@Monitor is first deinstalled and then the Dat@Monitor V6.0 SP1 installed.

2.2 Dat@Monitor Client
The Dat@Monitor server checks the version compatibility between server and client and, if required, automatically installs the corresponding client component. This means:

  • An 'old' Dat@Monitor client V6.0 encounters a current server V6.0 SP1 -> Current Dat@Monitor client V6.0 SP1 is automatically installed
  • A current Dat@Monitor client V6.0 SP1 encounters an 'old' Server V6.0 -> Communication will continue to function, but with the function scope of V6.0
