With the new SINUMERIK Thin Client Unit (TCU), the SINUMERIK portfolio for distributed architectures to spatially separate SINUMERIK operator panels fronts and SINUMERIK PCU has been expanded. Using the SINUMERIK Thin Client Unit (TCU), up to 4 distributed operator panel fronts can be connected to a PCU. The distance between the PCU and operator panel fronts is determined by the maximum distance between two network nodes / access points.





Overview

The Thin Client Unit (TCU) for the distributed structure allows SINUMERIK operator panel fronts OP/TP to be separately mounted/installed away from the SINUMERIK PCU. It also allows up to 4 operator panel fronts to be connected – each with a TCU – to a PCU. The operator interface of a PCU 50/70 is copied to several OPs each with a TCU using software.

Benefits

  • Flat operator panels are possible thanks to the low mounting depth and low power loss (thermal loss)

  • SINUMERIK PCU is mounted in the cabinet so that it is not subject to any vibration

  • Larger machines can be effectively controlled using up to 5 identical operator panels

 

Function

  • Signal signals are transferred between the PCU and the operator panel front via industrial Ethernet

  • Simple mounting and service-friendly design thanks to the component structure

  • The functionality of the PCU is the same as in the central architecture version (e.g. number of PCI slots). The same operator screen is displayed synchronously (at the same time) on all OPs – and can be handled from all OPs. The operation at a Thin Client has the same authorization level (i.e. is a peer) with the control from an operator panel front directly connected to the PCU. The operator panel that has been switched into the passive mode has a darkened screen.

  • Operator control is possible at the active operator panel. The request for operation from a passive operator panel can be specifically enabled.

  • Operator panel fronts can be operated in the mixed mode at a TCU or using an integrated TCU and an operator panel front directly at the PCU.

  • The distance between the PCU and operator panel fronts is determined by the maximum distance between two network nodes / access points (100 m)

  • The maximum color depth is 16 bits

 

Prerequisites:

  • Operator panel fronts OP 010 / OP 010C / OP 010S / OP 012 / TP 012 / OP 015 / OP 015A / TP 015A with TFT display

  • Operator panel fronts with the same screen resolution
  • SINUMERIK PCU 50/PCU 70 either greater than or equal to 1.2 GHz with Windows XP
  • BIOS greater than or equal to 02.03.09
  • PCU Base software WinXP greater than or equal to 07.04.00.00
  • PCU Base software Thin Client greater than or equal to 07.04.00.00
  • HMI-Advanced greater than or equal to 06.04.19 (this must be available)

 

Design/structure

The TCUs are coupled to the TCU as Thin Clients in a dedicated sub-network via Ethernet (using a DHCP server on the PCU).

  • Graphics resolution 640 x 480 to 1024 x 768

 

Connections:

  • 2 x USB 1.1 to connect a mouse and keyboard
  • Ethernet 10/100 Mbit/s
