Instructions:
If after starting STEP 7 and also after closing the SIMATIC Manager the two options "Standby mode" and "Power-down mode" are not available in the "Power Schemes" tab of "Power Options Properties" (Fig. 01), the cause lies in the EPROM driver of STEP 7 version V5.3. This EPROM driver does not support the two options "Standby mode" and "Power-down mode" and so they are no longer recognized by the operating system when STEP 7 is started. You have to restart the programming device before the two options "Standby mode" and "Power-down mode" reappear in the "Power Schemes" tab and can be set.

Remedy:
Disable the EPROM driver in the Control Panel as long as you don't need it. The procedure is described in the table below:

No. Disabling the EPROM driver in the Control Panel
1 In Microsoft Windows you open the Control Panel via "Start > Settings > Control Panel".

Note on Windows XP:
In Windows XP, open the "Control Panel" either

  • via "Start > Control Panel" (in the Start menu for simplified access to the programs in Windows XP) or
  • via "Start > Settings > Control Panel" for the classic Start menu as in earlier versions of Windows.

2 In the Control Panel you click on the "Parameterize Memory Card" icon.

Classic View:

  • In the Classic View you can open the "Parameterizing of Memory Card" dialog directly.

3 In the "Parameterizing of Memory Card" dialog you select "None" in the Interface field and save with "OK". The EPROM driver is now disabled.
