Note
Effective October 1st, 2017 the MICROMASTER 4 standard drives are managed as a product to be phased out - see entry ID 109744726.
This means the MM4 standard drives should not be applied in new projects any more.

Problem:  
The function mechanisms of closed-loop control positioning, which is frequently used, are illustrated technically taking a storage lift as an example, using a compact controller, SIMATIC Easy Motion Control software and a MICROMASTER.

Solution:  
Three automation solutions are described for this, containing details about the list of components, prices and function differences. The automation solution illustrated in the picture below has also been applied on the basis of a storage lift. To facilitate this, the S7 project contains a STEP 7 user program that positions a linear axis by means of closed-loop control with the aid of SIMATIC EASY MOTION CONTROL software. ProTool/Pro is used as a user interface. To aid your understanding of the system environment, an EXCEL worksheet enables you to read the distance traveled from the controller via an OPC link and displays this data diagrammatically. To demonstrate potential areas of application and restrictions under real conditions, the positioning accuracy has been measured under different load conditions, and the degree to which it can be transferred to more high-performance applications has been discussed.
