Why does my SIMATIC S7-300 CPU go into STOP with error 16#4548 "Stop by I/O administration"?

  • Entry
  • Associated product(s)

The error status 16#4548 "Stop by I/O administration" is generated when...

  • Expansion racks are no longer recognized.
  • The system bus no longer functions because of disconnected CPs (missing load supply).

Most of the sporadically occurring errors are caused by voltage dips in the power supply of the expansion devices' interface module IM361 or the CPs. The reason for this might be switching operations in output modules whose load is supplied via the same voltage as the IM modules and the CPs. The error is then visualized when the CPU itself is not affected of the voltage dip and this is thus also not diagnosed.

Use a separate cable for the load power supply for the output modules.

An I/O administration error cannot be intercepted by an error OB.
