QUESTION:
Isn't it possible to make a network link with TCP/IP in older PCU service menus?
Netbeui is no longer supported as standard for network nodes with OS as from Windows XP. However, the protocol can be post-installed.

ANSWER:
In principle, XP does not support the NetBEUI protocol, and Microsoft no longer supports it either. Notwithstanding that, the necessary files are included on the installation CD ROM.
The files required are: Netnbf.inf and Nbf.sys.
Installation of the NetBEUI protocol:

- Insert the installation CD ROM.
- Start >> Settings >> Control Panel >> Open Network Links

- Select the adapter to which the protocol is to be added with the right mouse button and open the Properties.

- Click on Install in the General tab
- Click on the protocol and then on Add.
- Click on the data medium and open the Valueadd\msft\net\netbeui directory.
- Now select and open the file Netnbf.inf
- Confirm twice with OK, and restart the computer to complete the installation.
