Why can ProTool no longer be started from STEP 7 after WinCC flexible has been installed?

Description
If you install WinCC flexible on a computer on which ProTool is already installed, under certain circumstances ProTool can no longer be started from STEP 7. You can use the following remedies for this:

Pay attention to the compatibility of the products STEP 7, WinCC flexible and ProTool in Entry ID: 64847781. For example, the versions STEP 7 V5.5, WinCC flexible 2008 SP3 and ProTool V6.0 are not compatible.

1. Call ProTool once via the Windows Start menu after installing WinCC flexible.
2. Open the ProTool project from STEP 7.

Remedy 1

1. Open the STEP 7 Manager.
2. Select the menu command "Help > About...".
3. Click on the "Update menus..." button.

1. Uninstall ProTool as described in Entry ID:18697689.
2. Install ProTool.
3. Start ProTool and create a new project.
4. Close ProTool (no need to save the project).
