How do you monitor and control tags on panels on which the status/control object is not available?

  • Entry
  • Associated product(s)

Instructions:
The status/control object is not available in panels with a small display, such as OP77B and TP170B.
Alternatively, this functionality can be implemented via a self-configured picture with indirectly addressed tags and multiplexed tags; there is no need for programming in the controller. You can find information about multiplexing addresses and tags in Entry Nos. 21808320 and 21807421.

Below you can find examples for an OP77B and a TP170B; the configuration is available to download at the end of this Entry.

Example: OP77B

Fig. 01

Set the address for the tag being monitored in the fields marked in red:

  • Data area:
output byte (OB), word (OW), double word (OD),
input byte (IB), word (IW), double word (ID),
flag byte (FB), word (FW), double word (FD),
data byte (DBB), word (DBW), double word (DBD)
  • Data block number (only applies to DBB / DBW / DBD)
  • Byte / word / double word address

You can monitor the selected tag in the field marked blue; the tag can be controlled by entering a value.

Example: TP170B

Fig. 02

In this example two tags can be monitored and controlled independent of one another.

Download
The download below contains a WinCC flexible 2004 SP1 project for OP77B and one for TP170B with the functions described above. You can change the Win flexible projects to suit your requirements. Copy the file to a separate folder and then extract it in the Windows Explorer. You can then use the SIMATIC Manager to open and process the extracted project.
