PCS 7 Multiproject / Multiuser Engineering
You want to configure an automation system efficiently with the SIMATIC PCS 7 functions. Several project engineers shall cooperate with their own Engineering Stations for this purpose or (sub)projects will be transferred to external engineering firms.
This document comprises using the multiproject and multi-user engineering with PCS 7. Alternative approaches are introduced with their advantages and disadvantages.
The topics and the procedures are explained under practical aspects and partially with step-by-step instructions.
This documentation is subdivided into two different parts:
- In multiproject engineering an overall automation task is generally divided into several PCS 7 projects. They are edited separately on decentralized Engineering Stations by one project engineer each and updated on the central Engineering Server after that.
- In contrast, in multi-user engineering several users work on the same project via the network. This part of the documentation deals with the options and restrictions which occur when several users work on the same object.
Multiproject engineering with its functionalities described here has been available since PCS 7 V6.1. Multi-user engineering has been available since PCS 7 V7.0 SP1.
