SINAUT ST7 Telecontrol configuration examples in Ethernet, secure Internet and (E)GPRS environment

Problem
A central station for controlling and monitoring remote Telecontrol stations shall be connected via a secure Internet/ (E)GPRS connection with two stations. A simple process (three motors) shall be operated and monitored via the central station as an example. The stations shall exchange process data in addition (cross-communication)

Solution
The automation solution uses the SINAUT ST7 Telecontrol System of SIMATIC NET. This telecontrol system is based on SIMATIC S7 and WinCC and permits

  • a fully automatic monitoring and visualization of the substations
  • an event-controlled data transmission through all networks
  • remote programming and diagnostics of the subordinated stations.

This document is divided into three partial configurations for the sake of clarity, to separate the purely SINAUT ST7-specific configurations from the configuration of the secure connection via IPSec or MSC protocol.

  • Volume 1: Application for SINAUT ST7 Telecontrol with TIM4R-IE and TIM3V-IE in an Ethernet-based environment
  • Volume 2: SINAUT ST7 Telecontrol configuration in a secure EGPRS environment with MD741-1/ SCALANCE S612
  • Volume 3: SINAUT ST7 Telecontrol configuration of a secure Internet/ GPRS connection via MSC protocol

Volume 1 shows the simplest option of connecting a central station and two SINAUT stations via Ethernet. For this purpose the WinCC station will have been connected with the ST7cc server via a Master TIM4R-IE with Industrial Ethernet. The stations are coupled with Industrial-Ethernet via a TIM3V-IE.

This example gives a small overview over the topic "Telecontrol with SIMATIC" and explains in detail the configuration

  • of a SINAUT connection via Ethernet
  • of the signals from the CPU via the TIM3V-IE and ST7cc server into the WinCC tag management
    (Here the variant is demonstrated where the block library (TD7onTIM) is used which has already been integrated in TIM3V-IE)
  • of the SINAUT ST7 standard typicals within the WinCC surface

Volume 2 is based on this completed example, but here a secure EGPRS data transmission is used via the Internet instead of the line dependent connection. For this purpose the EGPRS router MD741-1 establishes a virtual private network (VPN) via the Internet to a SCALANCE S612 Security Module. A DSL line with a fixed IP address is used here for the Internet connection.

This example explains

  • the necessary basic terms of the GSM/EGPRS technology and security aspects
  • all configuration steps in detail which are required to build a VPN tunnel between the EGPRS router MD741-1 and the security module SCALANCE S612

Volume 3 is based also on the completed example of Volume 1. In this example the MSC protocol is used for the secure data transmission via the Internet and GPRS. For this purpose the GSM/GPRS modem MD720-3 (or TIM3V-IE Advanced in a DSL station) builds a virtual private network (VPN) via the Internet to the Master TIM4R-IE without requiring any additional VPN devices. Like in Volume 2, a DSL line is used with a fixed IP address as Internet connection in the Control Center in this example.

  • all configuration steps which are required to build a VPN tunnel between the GSM/GPRS modem MD720-3 and the TIM4R-IE
