The properties of the open IE communication via the integrated PN/IE interface of the CPU and via Industrial Ethernet CP are explained below.

Open IE communication provides services for communication via:

  • The integrated PN/IE interface of the CPUs
  • Industrial Ethernet CPs.

Open IE communication via integrated PN/IE interface of the CPUs
A program-controlled communication procedure called Open User Communication (OUC) is used for open IE communication via the integrated PN/IE interface. Instructions in the user program control:

  • Establishment of connections
  • Disconnection of connections
  • Sending and receiving of data

Note
The S7-400 supports also Open User Communication via the Industrial Ethernet CP 443-1 Advanced.

Open IE communication via S7-300/S7-400 Industrial Ethernet CPs
Open IE communication via Industrial Ethernet CPs of the S7-300 and S7-400 is performed via the SEND/RECEIVE interface. The connection is configured in STEP 7. Instructions in the user program control the sending and receiving of data.

Connection parameters

The connection is configured in STEP 7. You set the connection parameters in the properties of the connection.

 

Note
The Industrial Ethernet CP and the connection can be parameterized during runtime with the IP_CONFIG instruction. Further information about this is available in Entry ID 21988384.

The connection parameters are stored in a data block that contains the data structure from the UDT 65 "TCON_PAR".

 

Note
Information about the structure of the connection parameters (UDT65) is available in the manual "STEP 7 Professional V13.1", in the section entitled Open User Communication.

The connection parameters are stored in a connection parameter DB with a structure according to TCON_Param, TCON_IP_v4 or TCON_IP_RFC.


Information about the structure according to TCON_Param, TCON_IP_v4 and TCON_IP_RFC is available in the manual "STEP 7 Professional V13.1", in the chapter entitled Function of the Protocols.

You can program or configure the connection for the S7-1500 CPUs and CMs / CPs.

Connection establishment

The connection establishment is triggered and monitored by the firmware.

The establishment and disconnection of connections is done as programmed in the user program via the "TCON" instruction. After the connection has been established it is monitored and maintained automatically by the CPU.

Note
With the S7-1500 CPUs, CMs and CPs the connection establishment is triggered and monitored by the firmware if the connection is configured.

Data exchange

Data exchange is performed via the instructions AG_SEND and AG_RECV.

 

Note

With TCP/IP and ISO-on-TCP, data exchange is via the instructions TSEND and TRCV.

With UDP, data exchange is performed via the instructions TUSEND and TURCV.

With TCP/IP and ISO-on-TCP, data exchange is via the instructions TSEND / TSEND_C and TRCV / TRCV_C.

Connection disconnectionThe firmware disconnects the connection automatically.The connection is disconnected via the instruction TDISCON.
