What do you do if the time synchronization in the PLC doesn't function as time slave?

  • Associated product(s)

Instructions:
If all the following conditions are fulfilled, the LOC_TIME block does not provide the correct local time or summer/winter time information, because the time status is not stored correctly in the S7 CPU. However, in this case the UTC time can still be read out correctly with the block READ_CLK (SFC 1).

  • The CP 443-1EX02-0XE0 is used for time synchronization.
    Note:
This module is included in the document "SIMATIC Process Control System PCS 7 V7.0 - Released Modules". This document is on the DVD "SIMATIC PCS 7 Manual Collection" in the path "English > Pcs7 > S7pcshwb.pdf".

  • The PLC is parameterized as time slave.
    Note:
In the HW Config the following settings are defined for this in the Properties dialog of the CPU used, in the "Diagnostic/Clock" tab:
The "As slave" synchronization type is set in the "In the PLC" combo box in the "Clock" area.

  • In the CP, time synchronization is set in the SIMATIC mode.
    Note:
In the HW Config the following settings are defined for this in the Properties dialog of the CPU in the "Time-Day Synchronization" tab:
The "Activate SIMATIC time-of-day synchronization" is selected in the "SIMATIC Mode" area. The "Use corrected time" option is not selected.

Remedy:
There is no firmware update available or planned for CP443-1EX02. Use CP443-1EX11-0XE0 instead.
