1. SIMATIC WinCC/ProcessMonitor V1.0?

With the version 1.0, this option is being introduced for WinCC V6.2.

The SIMATIC WinCC/ProcessMonitor is a component of the SIMATIC WinCC/Plant Intelligence. The WinCC/ProcessMonitor is used for collecting, manipulating, analyzing and storing process values. The process values are read directly from WinCC and connected to the corresponding analysis function. The ProcessMonitor can be installed on either a WinCC single-station system, WinCC server or WinCC client with project. It consists of the ProcessMonitor server and a database, an engineering client and a runtime user interface. This WinCC option supports the user in the execution of the following tasks:    

  • Storing and presentation of process data, which has been prepared via predefined or user-defined statistical calculation operations. 

  • Depiction of raw process data from WinCC archives. 

  • Statistical ad hoc analyses for stored process data (from the ProcessMonitor and the WinCC Tag Logging archives). 

  • Statistical ad hoc analyses for alarms.

  • Data retrieval from the WinCC Tag Management, WinCC Tag Logging and WinCC Alarm Logging.  

1.1 ProcessMonitor Server

The licensing takes place via the number of used Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). The basic package contains 5o KPIs. Additional licenses are available in steps of up to 250 and up to 1500 KPIs. The ProcessMonitor server installation is comprised of the server with database, the engineering client and the runtime user interface. 

1.2 Engineering Client

On the engineering client it is possible to edit a project. The most important objects used for the acquisition of data and for the execution of calculations are the tags. In contrast to WinCC standard tags, these are functionally expanded tags. After the configuration, each tag possesses a specific functionality and thus is a KPI. Four different types of tags exist:   

The calculated KPIs are stored in the SQL database by the ProcessMonitor and can also be written into a WinCC standard tag for the further use in WinCC. 

Archiving data 

With the aid of this tag type, solely values of the measured data are archived, which have been acquired in WinCC (in Tag Management or in Tag Logging). The archiving of the data is triggered by configurable conditions. The following conditions can be configured:  

  • OverThreshold: The value has to lie above a specific threshold value. 

  • UnderThreshold: The value has to lie below a specific threshold value.

  • WithinRange: The value has to lie within a specific range.

  • OutOfRange: The value has to lie outside of a specific range. 

  • Furthermore, for tags read from the WinCC Tag Logging, three additional functions (RateOfIncrease, RateOfDecrease, RateOfChange) are available. 

Predefined calculations 

With the aid of this tag type, the results of a predefined aggregation function - which has been applied to the measured data - are archived. 

In the ProcessMonitor, certain predefined aggregation functions - depending on configurable triggering conditions - can be applied to the measured values, which have been read from a tag archived in the WinCC Tag Logging. The following predefined calculations are available: 

  • Average 

  • Standard deviation over time 

  • Variance (measure for the dispersion around the average)

  • Maximum over time 

  • Minimum over time

  • Maximum with time 

  • Minimum with time 

  • Range over time (difference between maximum value and minimum value)

  • Sum over time 

  • For binary tags, additional aggregation functions (OnCount, OffCount, OnTime, OffTime, MaxOnTime, MaxOffTime, Count, PercentageBad, PercentageGood) are available. 

User-defined calculations 

The ProcessMonitor possesses its own VBScript editor, with which customized functions (customized KPIs) can be created. A created function can be assigned to multiple user-defined calculations. The results of the user-defined script function applied to the the measured data can be archived or written back into WinCC.   
 

Context-dependent data 

A condition is configured, which can be applied to other tags. With this option, actual values can be stored or analyzed, if they are moving in a specific range. For this, the same check functions as for the archiving data are available.    
 

1.3 Runtime User Interface

The runtime user interface consists of three controls, which can be integrated into WinCC process screens. With the aid of the controls, the determined KPIs as well as the data progression from WinCC tags are visualized. The following three controls are available:  

  • The WinCC ProcessMonitor Trend viewer depicts up to 64 values from WinCC or the ProcessMonitor. The depiction over different time periods (overlay trend) or, alternatively, the depiction of different process values over the same time period (standard trend) can be selected.  

  • The WinCC ProcessMonitor XY Trend viewer uses two different tags to visualize dependencies of process values. The data source can be the ProcessMonitor as well as the WinCC Tag Logging.

  • The WinCC Message Analyzer offers filtering, analyzing and displaying options for WinCC alarms. The results are depicted in a bar chart on the basis of algorithm-based calculations.  

Furthermore, ad hoc analyses while in runtime can be performed for process data stored in the ProcessMonitor or in the WinCC Tag Logging archives.

3. Delivery Scope and Ordering Data

The delivery of the ProcessMonitor V1.0 is comprised of a DVD, a license disk and the certificate of license. The documentation in five languages is contained on the DVD. A separate hardcopy version does not exist.   The delivery includes a WinCC V6.2 DVD (without license) for the installation of the basic software.
