SIMATIC operating units can communicate with many different controllers. For this you need different cables and cable types. This FAQ response gives you an overview of the types of communication, the cables that can be used and their interface assignments.

The list below contains only the most important connecting cables. More information about cables is available in the manuals.

The CPU connector and the OP connector are wired with the bus cable and plugged into both devices. Now you can connect the PG to the PG female connector of the connector on the CPU side. Refer also to entry 1070096.

Angular adapters
The angular adapter (9-pin) forwards all the signals in pin-compatible form. The RS422/RS232 converter (9-pin) is for connecting third-party PLCs that need an RS232 physical to a panel. When using the converter of the RS422, you must set the RS422 interface in the configuration tool. The adapter implements the signals purely physically outside the panel.
