How can you change the tab order in WinCC flexible?

Below are instructions for how to change the tab order and what you should watch out for in doing so.

1. Specifying the tab order
To edit the tab order, you select the menu command View > Tab Order.
In this mode, a number is displayed at the top left of the operable picture objects, which is the
"tab order number".

You can edit the distribution of these numbers with the mouse. You also have the option of excluding picture objects from the tab order.

The tab order is specified separately for the objects in the "permanent window" and for all the objects in the "Templates picture" and in the current window. The special points to be noted here are described below in section 2 "Special points to be noted when using the tab order".

Requirements:

  • A picture with multiple objects is opened.
  • No object is marked.

1a) Changing the tab order

1 Select View > Tab Order from the menu.

All the picture objects in the tab order display the "tab order number" in the top left-hand corner.

2 Click on the picture object that is to have the number 1.

The picture object swaps its "tab order number" with the picture object that had the number 1 until now.
Click on the other picture objects one after the other. Each time you click, the next highest "tab order number" is exchanged.

3 Click on a point in the picture where there are no objects to terminate the tab order mode.

Alternatively you can also end the tab order mode with the <ESC> button or by selecting the "Tab Order" command again in the "View" menu.

1b) Excluding objects from the tab order

1 Select View > Tab Order from the menu.

All the picture objects in the tab order display the "tab order number" in the top left-hand corner.

2 To exclude a picture object from the tab order you press and hold the <SHIFT> button and click on the object desired.

The tab order number is removed from the picture object. The picture object is now excluded from the tab order. The remaining "tab order numbers" are decreased by 1 automatically.

Repeat Step 2 to re-include an excluded picture object in the tab order.
The picture object is included as the first element in the tab order.

3 Click on a point in the picture where there are no objects to terminate the tab order mode.

Alternatively you can also end the tab order mode with the <ESC> button or by selecting the "Tab Order" command again in the "View" menu.

2. Special points to be noted when using the tab order
Section 1 above describes how to change the tab order of objects.
If objects in the current picture, e.g. in the permanent window, and separate objects from the template window are being used in the current picture, there is a specific order for choosing the objects in Runtime

A tab order has been specified in each "picture area".

  3. Objects from the template window that are used in the current picture

(The picture was edit so that the tab numbers can be seen simultaneously in all "picture areas").
