Description

Automatic commissioning (device replacement without interchangeable medium) with topological configuration
IO devices which support automatic commissioning (device replacement without interchangeable medium) can be easily replaced.
These IO devices are distinguished by the following properties:

  • There is no need for an interchangeable medium (Micro Memory Card, for example) with saved device name.
  • The device name does not have to be assigned to the PG.

The replacement IO device receives the device name from the IO controller and not from the interchangeable medium or the PG. For this the IO controller uses the configured topology and the neighbor relationships determined by the IO devices. Here, all the participating devices must support the LLDP (Link Layer Discovery Protocol). The configured nominal topology must match the actual topology.

Device replacement without topological configuration

If the device name is saved in addition on the bus adapter (BA 2xRJ45 or 2xFC) of the interface module, you can replace it without PG and without topological configuration.
By saving on the bus adapter and on the interface module you have different scenarios when using the device name.
 

  Interface module empty Interface module with device name
Bus adapter empty No device name available. Device name from interface module is used and copied to bus adapter.
Bus adapter with device name Device name from bus adapter is used and copied to interface module. Device name from the bus adapter is used and copied to the interface module if this has a different device name.

With the interface module below the device name is stored in addition on the bus adapter:

  • ET 200SP IM 155-6 PN HF with article number 6ES7155-6AU00-0CN0 firmware V2.0 and higher
  • ET 200SP IM 155-6 PN ST with article number 6ES7155-6AA00-0BN0 and 6ES7155-6AU00-0BN0 firmware V3.1 and higher

The interface module IM154-4 PN High Feature and the connection modules CM IM PN M12, 7/8" and CM IM PN PP Cu all have an internal memory in which the device name is stored. Therefore there are different scenarios for the validity of the device name when replacing a module without PG.
