The display texts, titles and comments and the texts in the HMI devices are then not displayed if the editing language set in STEP 7 (TIA Portal) is not the one used to create the texts.

If your project has multiple project languages and you want to open your project on another PC with a different user interface language of STEP 7 (TIA Portal), the system automatically switches the editing language in the project languages too.

In STEP 7 (TIA Portal), you create a project with network comments and the user interface language set to "English (USA)". If you open the same project on another PC with the user interface language set to "German" in STEP 7 (TIA Portal), the editing language is changed automatically to "English (USA)" even if the editing language was set to "German" in STEP 7 (TIA Portal) on the first PC.

The display texts, titles and comments entered in the project are created in an editing language. When you create a new project, the editing language set matches the user interface language set.

Change the setting for the editing language. The editing language must match the language that was set for the user interface language when the project was opened.

  1. In the project tree, open the "Languages & Resources" folder and double-click "Project languages" in the open folder.
  2. Select the desired language from the "Editing language" drop-down list under "General". In the example described above, the setting "German (Germany)" would be mandatory.
