SIMATIC/SIMOTION Intelligent Belt - Multi Belt Control

The Intelligent Belt application (multi belt control) can be used to pick up sequentially arriving products and to provide them grouped at an unloading position. The most important feature is that loading and unloading are independently performed.


The Intelligent Belt application is intended for use in production machines, mainly in the packaging industry. The application consists of at least one belt or chain to handle the required product movement (SIMOTION: at least two belts/chains are required). Each belt can be moved independently by a separate drive and consists of one or more trains that group or ungroup individual products for the next machine module (station). This means that one train can be loaded while another train is in motion or being unloaded (by a robot for example).

It is recommended that the integration is performed with the ProjectGenerator. In addition to the automatic library import or library update, a preconfigured program with corresponding function block call is also integrated automatically in the project. Furthermore the library that is needed for the internally used axis function block is also automatically integrated.
