The proven 1FK7 synchronous motor series has been innovated.
With immediate effect, delivery release has been granted for the second generation of the motors
- 1FK7xxx-2A... (Compact),
- 1FK7xxx-3B... (High Inertia) and
- 1FK7xxx-4C... (High Dynamic)

This concerns the shaft heights 36 to 100 (1FK703 to 1FK710) of the 1FK7 series. The shaft heights 20 and 28 (1FK701 and 1FK702) remain unchanged.

The proven 1FK7 synchronous motor series has been innovated through a redesign (Generation 2).
This redesign primarily focused on the integration of the DRIVE-CLiQ interface in the motor encoder as well as convenient encoder replacement in the field.
These aims are implemented by reworking the motor series and introducing the DQI encoder.

 

1FK7 Generation 2: View from the front View from the rear

Delivery release for Generation 2  1FK7 motors

This delivery release applies to all 1FK7 G2 motors: 1FK7xxx-2Axx1-1xxx (Compact), 1FK7xxx-3Bxx1-1xxx (High Inertia) and 1FK7xxx-4Cxx1-1xxx (High Dynamic)
with shaft heights 36 (1FK703), 48 (1FK704), 63 (1FK706), 80 (1FK708) and 100 (1FK710)
The shaft heights 20 (1FK701) and 28 (1FK702) are not affected and remain in the existing design.

Details regarding the available encoders are provided in the Attachment "Encoder systems and migration" as well as the selection and ordering data.

1. Benefits provided by the new design

The following benefits result when using the new replaceable encoder with highly integrated DRIVE-CLiQ interface:
Robust, vibration-free encoder attachment:
- Increased mechanical robustness due to the mechanical decoupling of the gear shaft from the motor shaft.
- In case of service, the encoder can be exchanged on site within a very short time. No special tool resp. readjustment is required.
New encoder versions with 20 resp. 24 bits:
- New encoder version with a resolution of 20 bits: This provides a low-cost alternative to the current single absolute encoder which only provides a resolution of 16 bits.
- Increased accuracy on high-resolution encoders: With currently 24 bits instead of 22 bits, an improved resolution is now also achieved for high-precision applications.
Lower interfering contour on the motor:
 - The new Generation 2 motors are generally shorther than the Generation 1 motors (see Attachment Encoder systems and migration)
 - On motors with DRIVE-CLiQ interface, the electronics of the existing Sensor Module have been integrated in the encoder. The Sensor Module is no longer required when using DQI encoders.
Enhanced S1 characteristic with absolute encoders:
- On 1FK7 G1, the nominal point had to be derated by 10% when using absolute encoders. This is no longer required with 1FK7 G2 motors.

2. Types

See Attachment "Selection and ordering data". For the sake of completeness, we have also listed the shaft heights 20 and 28 which are not available in Generation 2.

3. System integration and spare parts compatibility

1FK7xxx-2A (Compact, Generation 2):
Spare parts compatibility with Generation 1 is provided for motors with encoders (MLFB-14) A, E, S, T, U, P, D, F
For the new encoder systems with DQI encoders B, C, Q, R, "see dependencies with regard to the SINAMICS software used"

1FK7xxx-4C (High Dynamic, Generation 2):
No spare parts compatibility. New converter setting data are required.
However, the motor is characteristic-compatible with Generation 1.
For the new encoder systems with DQI encoders B, C, Q, R, "see dependencies with regard to the SINAMICS software used"

1FK7xxx-3B (High Inertia):
1FK7 High Inertia has no predecessor in Generation 1. When migrating to the new DQI encoders B, C, Q, R, "see dependencies with regard to the SINAMICS software used"
 

Dependencies with regard to the SINAMICS software used
The new DQI encoders with highly integrated DRIVE-CLiQ interface
(1FK7xxx-xxxxx-xBxx; 1FK7xxx-xxxxx-xCxx; 1FK7xxx-xxxxx-xQxx; 1FK7xxx-xxxxx-xRxx)

can only be operated as from SINAMICS Software Version 4.4. To permit operation also with earlier versions, various software supplements have been created for the following products:
 - SINAMICS standalone SINAMICS 2.6 SP2 HF10
 - SINUMERIK 840D sl SINUMERIK 2.6 SP1 HF3
 - SINUMERIK 828D SINUMERIK 2.6 HF5 and SINUMERIK 4.3 HF2
 - SIMOTION D SIMOTION 4.2
   
The new DQI encoders cannot be operated on SINUMERIK 802D sl and 840Di sl.

5. Migration from 1FK7 G1 to 1FK7 G2

The following must be observed when migrating:

Partly modified rotor inertias
Partly increased holding torques of the permanent magnet brakes
Check the length:
 - All 1FK7 G2 motors without brake with DQI are shorter than the same type in G1 with optical encoder.
 - With one exception (1FK7080
DL=+17mm), all 1FK7 G2 motors with brake with DQI have the same length or are shorter than the same type in  G1
 - Some 1FK7 G2 motors with resolver are longer than 1FK7 G1
Check the interfering contour:
- Some power connectors are located at other positions
- Modified cable routing for the signal cable
Flange: Hole circle with 1FK703
- With 1FK703 Generation 1, the flange included slotted holes for fastening the motor. These allowed a hole circle with a diameter ranging from D=75mm to D=81.5mm.
  In 1FK703 Generation 2, the hole circles had to be omitted. The hole circle diameter is D=75mm
