This FAQ gives you overviews in PDF format for quick reference. In addition it shows you how to use the TIA Selection Tool to determine the required licenses individually in the case of complex plants.

You would like to upgrade your software to WinCC V13 and you are already in possession of WinCC flexible 2008, WinCC V7.0/7.2 or WinCC (TIA Portal) in a lower version.
Below we show you the upgrade options. You can see which licenses you need from the associated PDF files.

You can also use the TIA Selection Tool instead of the overviews offered in PDF format.

If you do not yet have a WinCC or WinCC flexible license, you need the full license for the WinCC V13 Engineering System and the WinCC V13 Runtime.

WinCC flexible versions older than WinCC flexible 2008 SP3 should be upgraded to WinCC flexible 2008 SP3.
WinCC versions older than WinCC V7.0 should be upgraded to WinCC V7.0.

1.1 Upgrading the Engineering System in WinCC V13

You can use Power Pack licenses to upgrade the version or increase the number of available Power Tags (PTs).
The PDF file includes the article numbers of the following Power Pack licenses:

  • WinCC Basic V13 --> WinCC Comfort V13
  • WinCC Comfort V13 --> WinCC Advanced V13
  • WinCC Advanced V13 --> WinCC Professional 512 PTs V13
  • WinCC Professional 512 PTs V13 --> WinCC Professional 4096 PTs V13
  • WinCC Professional 4096 PTsV13 --> WinCC Professional Max. PTs V13

1.2 Upgrading the Engineering System from WinCC V11, WinCC V12 or WinCC flexible 2008 to WinCC V13

The PDF file includes the article numbers of the following upgrade licenses:

  • WinCC Basic V11/V12 --> WinCC Basic V13
  • WinCC Comfort V11/V12 --> WinCC Comfort V13
  • WinCC Advanced V11/V12 --> WinCC Advanced V13
  • WinCC Professional 512 PTs V11/V12 --> WinCC Professional 512 PTs V13
  • WinCC Professional 4096 PTs V11/V12 --> WinCC Professional 4096 PTs V13
  • WinCC Professional Max. PTs V11/V12 --> WinCC Professional Max. PTs V13
  • WinCC flexible 2008 Compact --> WinCC Comfort V13
  • WinCC flexible 2008 Standard --> WinCC Comfort V13
  • WinCC flexible 2008 Advanced --> WinCC Advanced V13

  Upgrade WinCC V11/V12/flexible 2008 ES to WinCC V13 ES (23,3 KB)

Note

  • If you use an upgrade license from WinCC flexible 2008 to WinCC V13, you get a combo license. With a combo license you can continue to operate both WinCC V13 and WinCC flexible 2008.
  • Example: The upgrade from a WinCC flexible 2008 Compact license to a WinCC Comfort V13 license gives a combo license with which you can operate both WinCC Comfort V13 and WinCC flexible 2008 Compact.
  • If you use a Power Pack license in this case (for example from WinCC Comfort V13 to WinCC Advanced V13), the version of WinCC flexible 2008 also goes up (in the example from WinCC flexible 2008 Compact to WinCC flexible 2008 Advanced).

1.3 Upgrading Runtime in WinCC V13

With Power Pack licenses you can increase the version and/or the number of available Power Tags (PTs).
The PDF file includes the article numbers of the following Power Pack licenses:

  • WinCC Advanced 128 - 4096 PTs V13 --> WinCC Advanced 512 - 8192 PTs V13
  • WinCC Advanced 128 - 8192 PTs V13 --> WinCC Professional 128 - 8192 PTs V13
  • WinCC Prof. 128 - 153600 PTs V13 --> WinCC Prof. 512 - 262144 PTs V13

1.4 Upgrading the Runtime (RT) from WinCC V11, WinCC V12, WinCC flexible 2008 or WinCC V7.0/7.2 to a WinCC V13 Runtime

The PDF file includes the article numbers of the following upgrade licenses:

  • WinCC flexible 2008 RT 128 - 8192 PTs --> WinCC RT Adv. 128 - 8192 PTs V13
  • WinCC V7.0/7.2 RT 128 - 256 PTs --> WinCC RT Professional 128 - 256 PTs V13
  • WinCC V11/V12 RT 128 - 8192 PTs --> WinCC RT Advanced 128 - 8192 PTs V13

  Upgrade WinCC V7.0/V7.2/V11/V12/flexible 2008 RT to WinCC RT V13 (23,4 KB)

1.5 Upgrading from WinCC RC to WinCC V13 Engineering System and Runtime

The PDF file includes the article numbers of the following upgrade licenses:

  • WinCC V7.0/7.2 RC 128 - 256 PTs --> WinCC ES + RT Prof. 512 - 256 PTs V13

  Upgrade WinCC V7.0/7.2 RC to WinCC V13 RT + ES (19,1 KB)

Note

  • If you use an upgrade license from WinCC V7.0/7.2 RC to WinCC V13, you get a combo license. With a combo license you can continue to operate both WinCC V13 (ES + RT) and WinCC V7.0/7.2 RC. In this case the combo license refers to the Engineering System.
  • For example: WinCC V7.0/7.2 2048 Power Tags to WinCC Professional 2048 Power Tags V13 (ES + RT).
  • If you use a Power Pack license in this case (for example from WinCC Professional V13 with 2048 Power Tags to WinCC Professional V13 with 65536 Power Tags), then the number of Power Tags available in WinCC V7.0/7.2 also increases (in the example from 2048 to 65536).
