This entry contains information about how can position switches with tumbler be connected to the 3RK3 MSS

QUESTION:

How can position switches with tumbler be connected to the 3RK3 MSS?

ANSWER:

Position switches with tumbler can be connected to the MSS via conventional wiring or via AS-i.

When a position switch with tumbler is connected via conventional wiring, a safety level up to SIL2/PLd can be achieved for both safety functions (position monitoring and locking). When two position switches with tumbler are used, a safety level up to SIL3/PLe can be achieved for both safety functions.

When a position switch with tumbler is connected via AS-i, a safety level up to SIL2/PLd can be achieved for the position monitoring safety function.

The FAQ below shows how position switches with tumbler are connected to the MSS and parameterized.
