SIMOTION SCOUT, SINAMICS STARTER: SINAMICS DCC and know-how protection of the drive device

QUESTION:
What must be observed when using DCC SINAMICS and the know-how protection of the drive?

ANSWER:
You use SINAMICS DCC libraries (typical) when configuring the drive device and the SCOUT/STARTER V4.3 SP1 for the download into the target system.
During the download, you have activated the settings “additional data“ and “including DCC planning data“. With these settings, the DCC planning data are loaded during the download to the DCC plans and the SINAMICS DCC libraries used for configuring.
When setting the know-how protection on the drive device, the DCC planning data loaded for the SINAMICS DCC libraries are not protected by the know-how protection of the drive device. The DCC planning data loaded for the DCC plans are protected by the know-how protection of the drive device.

Notes
This behavior affects all drive devices that support the DCC SINAMICS and is independent of the firmware version of the drive device.
As from STARTER V4.3 SP2, the know-how protection of the drive device also covers the DCC planning data loaded for the SINAMICS DCC libraries.

What can I do to protect the unprotected DCC planning data for the SINAMICS DCC libraries against unauthorized access:

Do not load DCC planning data during the download into the target system. For this, deactivate the setting “including DCC planning data“ when downloading.
Please consider that this prevents not only loading of the DCC planning data for the SINAMICS DCC library, but also loading of the DCC planning data for the DCC plans. Thus, you can no longer edit the DCC plans under a drive object when uploading into an empty project.
Alternatively, cou can protect the DCC planning data for the SINAMICS DCC libraries with the know-how protection program and load the DCC planning data when downloading into the target system. The know-how protection program is set via the context menu of the SINAMICS DCC libraries.
