Installation, Operation and Maintenance of Process Historian/Information Server in a PCS 7 Environment
Important Licensing Information
Consider the following product note in case of using bundle licenses and updating to PH/IS 2014 SP2:
Determination of suitable hardware for the Process Historian 2014 with the "PH-HWAdvisor" tool
The Process Historian is used for long-term archiving of process data and messages. To ensure optimum operation and constant availability of data, the Process Historian 2014 has been subjected to a special delivery release since March 2016, which needs the determination of the suitable hardware. Since 5th of September 2016 the obligatory consultation of the Systems Support has been replaced by the described process and the "PH-HWAdvisor" tool.

Migration of a Process Historian SQL script.zip (1,1 KB)
Prioritization of Process Historian System Messages
The Process Historian cannot archive any data, if, for example, the connection between the OS system and the Process Historian is out of order or if sufficient hard disk capacity is no longer available. For this reason the Process Historian/PH Ready component on the OS system can trigger various OS messages. This Application Example describes how one can configure these messages with priority 16 in order to improve detection of the message for the operator or system administrator.Prioritization of Process Historian System Messages (1,1 MB)
Using of an iSCSI network attached storage (NAS) for Process Historian backups
This is a description how to use an iSCSI network attached atorage device in combination with a Process Historian 2014. It is created to support our customers to improve their PH installation by using an iSCSI storage device for
segment backups and database backups.

Setting up time synchronization
There are 2 possible ways for time synchronization:
- Time synchronisation via DCF-77 client:
This document contains the procedure for configuring time synchronization with DCF-77 client. Instructions for checking time synchronization are also included. (For newer operating systems, time synchronization via the DCF-77 client is not supported.Time synchronization is then only possible with the NTP method).
Setting up time synchronization of Process Historian and Information Server via the DCF-77 client (834,8 KB)
- Time synchronisation via NTP:
In this document you will find instructions for clock synchronization in small PCS 7 systems without an external DCF77 time master and without a domain controller (DC).
