SINAMICS S: Speed control of a S120 with SIMATIC S7-300/400 (STEP 7 V5) via PROFINET/PROFIBUS with Safety Integrated (via terminal) and HMI

A SIMATIC S7-300/400 is to control a SINAMICS S120 drive via PROFINET or PROFIBUS DP. The realization is to be done with the engineering tool STEP 7 V5.

The controller is to have both read and write access to process data of the inverter (control word and setpoint or status word and actual value) and to inverter parameters (ramp-up and ramp-down time, error memory).
In this context, the current faults and alarms of the inverter are to be displayed with the error number and as plain text on an operator panel. The current and acknowledged messages in the fault buffer of the inverter are to be visualized as well.



For the SINAMICS S120, the above task was implemented with a CPU 315-2 DP/PN. The blocks created for this purpose, one for process data communication and one for parameter access, can be used as a basis for your own applications.
The documentation for the application example describes the necessary configuration and programming of the required functions.

  • STARTER V4.3 SP3 HF1
